Health’s a Kick! is a 45-minute school assembly program designed to educate and entertain students while delivering a powerful message on the importance of living a healthy lifestyle. The Empire Strykers Professional Players, Staff, and Coaches will deliver a message that highlights topics like proper nutrition, the need to exercise, the dangers of drug, alcohol and tobacco use, and the importance of getting an education. The program is designed for grades K-6. Intermediate school assemblies are designed to be more interactive for enhanced participation.
Strykers personnel will review the four main points of the program:
1. Proper Nutrition
2. Exercise
3. Avoiding Drugs/Alcohol/Tobacco Use
4. Getting an Education
Students will then be given “homework” (a one-page flyer asking questions related to the assembly). They will also be informed that they will be given a voucher good for one complimentary ticket to attend a 2022-23 Empire Strykers home game if they return their “homework”! Strykers personnel will then thank students, staff, and school for having them visit and say goodbye, reminding everyone that HEALTH’S A KICK!
Soccer Demonstration: This part of the program will involve a fun and interactive soccer skills demonstration. Students and/or school staff will be used whenever possible. This section offers an entertaining element to the assembly with students and school staff interacting with the Empire Strykers Players! Points related to the messages delivered earlier will be reinforced throughout this section of the program.
